Replace the drive.

Do you really want to be using it and having it fail and then not being able to retrieve data.

Do you ignore the oil light when it comes in your car?
Do you ignore the warnings to NOT drop the hair dryer into your bathtub?
Do you cross the streets even tho it says it doesn't?

My point is its giving you a warning that something could possibly fail and if you choose to ignore it then your taking a very big risk that simply isn't worth it.

I don't care if tard has had his hdd run for 5 years and disable his warning in the bios, that doesn't mean your going to get 5 years out of yours; it could die tomorrow.

3. i did... i always look at all directions and make sure to safe/ok to cross the street...

When you are getting a s.m.a.r.t error warning and the s.m.a.r.t. feature is not even enabled. I'd say its a bios glitch or incompatibility between the hdd and your southbridge and safe to ignore.

Not all bios' have the option of turning it off or on but that doesn't mean its not there. 3rd party builders like Dell and HP are notorious for crippling their bios to only show whats needed and whats not.

His bios could very well have SMART enabled and not able to see it.

You really have to quit giving one sided advice that isn't always true.
