I've heard that the 500/640 have a high failure rate - mind you, I keep seeing people returning their drives failing, clicking, grinding, etc, not too encouraging - which is why I buy them in pair. For little over $100 I got 2 x 320GB SATA2 16MB NCQ, now for 2 of the same drives, only weeks later, I would pay over $180 !
I was asking myself that ? yesterday. Wait 'til the falling(against USD)Dollar starts to affect things. Back to graphics-cards that are grossly over-priced compared to US prices.

We all know the trend recently has been for decreasing prices on higher capacity HDs, but I think the OP's point is what particularly happened in July to make 320gb drives double in price at that retailer? It is a mystery we shall never know...

Yeah - back to paying $400 more for my graphics card compared to the US - I remember those days where I actually paid $580 for my 7800GS - and now I paid about $140 for my 8800GT OC 512MB I wonder if our dollar will go back down to 59 cents US :D

I just bought a 1TB Seagate for $134 at NCIX sale last Thursday. I think for the best capacity/$ right now, you should buy 500GB and above.

Yea, sale come and go. And US$ is now stronger than CA$ again.

Yeah I noticed that sucks - I was getting used to our dollar being worth 8% more LOL

My prediction, once the new presidency is in place, you can expect to see our dollar go back down in the 70's by the end of 2008.
Looks like my DX11 card will cost me a lot of money! ;)
