This is what my current Western Digital performs. I have 3 in this box and this is the fastest one. I still experience it as a pretty fast harddrive but Windows just can't get enough.

I'm sitting on a dual boot system and the Linux disk is at 80GB and it actually feels faster than this disk, but the credit goes to Linux and not to the harddrive.

Here's my 5000AAKS. My OS drive is currently a Seagate 7200.10 320GB..SATA3g. When i got the WD 500, it felt decently faster than the Seagate.. yet they both pull similar bench #'s. Then i got the 640.. and yeehaw... the 320 & 500 felt slow.
