My System Specs

Default New version of Seagate 250G ?

Just got a new Seagate 7200.10 250G HDD in from NCIX and it's super slim!! I'll have to pull out one of my older seagate 250G to veriry, but I'm pretty sure they were standard size.

Me thinks they've moved to a single platter for them...... :)

Yeah..it seems so...i got one for the University PC i'm building for my daughter. It is nice and slim... and wicked fast... smokes my Seagate 320 7200.10, and my WD5000 AAKS.

Check my HDTach run: On my P35 DS3L .

That does not look too bad at all. Can't quite edge out a 7200.11 500GB but it is still decent and I am sure that with it's slimmer design it would probably be great for airflow in cramped cases(I am thinking HTPC here). Am I correct in assuming that it has the same case as those slim 160GB 7200.10s have had for a while now or have they changed something?

I haven't seen one of the 160s, but the main body is about half the height of what I'm used to seeing in a 3.5 HDD with a drive extension on the bottom which extends out about 1/4".

I'm quite impressed... I'm not one of the folks who jam packs HDDs, so 250G is more than enough for any use I'm going to put it to.

Yea, those are pretty much the same results I got with my 7200.11 500GB.

In the end that looks like a great drive for low storage needs. Definitely worth considering.
