Default RAID 5 server 2012 info needed asap

Im working on a server for a customer and dont have a HUGE amount of experience with RAID 5 (or server 2012). Customer has 4 drives in RAID 5. One failed. I replaced the failed drive. In the hardware RAID manager it says the raid is scheduled for REBUILD and will be rebuilt after windows loads. Where in server 2012 can i go to check the status of the RAID rebuild?

I'm just guessing here based on my limited experience and a lack of response from others, but there should be a server dashboard of some kind, it might pop up when the server first starts up. There would be a storage tab on this dashboard that should direct you to any information you would need.

Typically if you have hardware RAID setup, the raid card would have an application you would use to monitor the array (rebuilds/status, etc). Lower end RAID card might not have such a utility and require you to go the the card's BIOS to monitor it.

Regardless, RAID rebuild status is usually logged to the eventviewer on servers (sometimes you have to turn on this feature). It will then push status' to the 'system' log or create its own log in the eventviewer.

+1 To this, on top of this advice you may want to lower the rebuild priority so the system does not slow to a crawl. Its also nicer to the drives especially if they are all from the same batch and prone to the same failure.

Good time to do a audit on their current backup solution and make sure their restores are working as intended.
