Default Cloning HDD

Hey guys,i'm upgrading my HDD,and i want to clone it,i have around 500gb of files on my old HDD and i want to put everything on the new one, they are both 1TB btw,so,no problem for space.

What if i just plug in both drives and drag and drop (copy) the partitions to the new drive? will it work?

And i don't wanna reinstall windows

PS: i know about cloning sofware ,but most are not free and they don't work well,a lot of people have problems and the free ones are slow :P i would like to do it manually,it would be so cool if i just had to drag and drop C:\

I believe we had a thread on this recently...

Free Disk Copy, Drive Clone, Disk Image freeware - EaseUS Disk Copy Home Edition.

Or even Windows 7 system backup & restore works fine, just takes longer.

Clonezilla is an option. While you're at it, just make yourself a Hiren boot CD. It's free and has pretty much anything you'll ever need : Download Hiren?s BootCD 15.2 | HBCD Fan & Discussion Platform
