Corsair fault, was WD can't build HD anymore

order 4 x 2TB black in retail box, 1 fail last week, the drive WD send me back from Advance RMA is DOA with a huge amount of bad sector, today a second one crap , SInce 2 to 3 years I RMA 7 WD drives , wtf

Sorry to hear that. I went through the same thing with Seagate a few years ago. Four out of five drives I purchased had to be replaced.

Alas it does happen. No manufacturer is immune to these types of events. Though historically if you look WD has a lower RMA rate then Seagate.

They still will take Priority in my purchases.

I have 3 drives that are anywhere from 5 to 3 years old or so, 2 wd cav black 640s and 1 cav blue 1tb sata 6, they work perfectly since the day I got them through multiple formats, and heavy use. Luck of the draw, it sux. Be nice if they offered a cross ship with any place that offers the same product so the customer does not have to directly ship it to them and have to wait.

EDIT; I will keep the comment on Egg, because I receive very bad packaged drives in the past, and I have now 2 box damages


I start to think it's New Egg the problem. On their forum they have many complain about HD not well packaged. This time I order Retail one, 4 of them and look at the box of the one defective, the corner is smash, I do a test with an old maxtor on another box, a drop on the floor is not enough to produce it, I have to give a swing, the corners are really hard. On Hard OCP they have a 24+ pages on peoples who return board to RMA been decline for huge line on CPU Sockets pins, things that need a screwdriver to do. Now if I return it to Egg, they gone say it was damage in transport, or I drop it my self. I can't use another box the serial is on the box too.

Yeah that might be the case, Drives are really sensitive to shock damage.

I would start buying mine elsewhere,

Well big 90' turn this morning, I try another HD, same S...T , so I said I have a problem with the motherboard, I try the HD in another PC, bingo I can format it. So O return on my Corsair 800d, plud the drive directly on the sata connector , by passing the hot swap bay, BINGO, it work, so on 4 Back Planes conectors I have 3 not working. This 800D is the worst case I ever own, very close to my TJ-07

1- the Power button is now stock, I have to use the reset button, connected to the power connector of the MB.
2- The drives door cheaps Plastic pins are now broken, it hold only by the magnet
3- 3 on 4 Back Planes defectives

So it cost me $ 20 ( 2 shipping RMA )
I have $ 200 hold on my CC until WDC receive my HD.
WDC proceed non defective drives for nothing.

Ha ha, me too, paid on Tuesday morning. This is the first time they haven't shipped same day.
