A New 3-TB Seagate Barracuda

With a Gigabyte GA-X79-UD5 motherboard with a UEFI BIOS Technology on it, read the whole 3TB when installing windows 7 64-bit SP1 or is it just going to read up to 2 TB and partition it.Will I need to run a patch after it is installed to get my whole 3 TB or 2.79 TB or what ever it is.It want be my boot drive ,I will be useing a 256gig crucial SSD as my boot drive and the 3 TB as my disk for movies and games.

GPT allows for hdds in excess of 2.2TB, which your MB supports. You need to ensure you're using an OS that also works with it, and the 64-bit Win 7 should be fine.

I will be useing Window 7 64bit Sp1 and it wil be my storage drive and my 256gig SSD SATAIII will be my boot drive. Then I have four SATA II dives left on my intel SATA slots.I have 4 to 6 more but they are Marvell chipset and I don't like them because they are slower to respond.Besides I will be useing a 256gig SSD,3TB Seagate 2-1TB Samsung and a 640gig black W.D. drives and my 12x Blu-ray bruner,so I should have plenty of storage for a while.I may just raid-0 my 2-1TB drives never had any problems in the past. But since I will just be useing them as storage really don't see a need.I did'nt realize my 640gig W.D are almost four years old.
