If I may add to his discussion, since I just installed my first SSD last night as well. In the linked article he compares SSD speed to HDD, using various software. Understanding SSD Advertised Performance and Its Purchase Implications - An SSD Primer - The SSD Review
Has anyone found it useful to check your SSD status wrt access speed after you install it to verify it's operating as advertised? What software did you use?
