WD Black 2TB vs Seagate 2TB

I'd say Seagate is cheap unreliable option. I used to be big fan of IBM/Hitachi drives. They got killed. Just WD left.

Normally, I'd go with the one with the warranty, but its quite a big difference in price which is the only reason I'm asking.

I've owned both brands, and never had issues with either. This is really a secondary machine, so I might just "gamble" a bit and go for the Seagate, and use the cash towards other parts, or even a second drive.

peaple whom have had bad experience with brand a will tell ya to buy what brand b offers ala what 486 has .....

I've owned I believe 1 wd, never had issue's with it ..... & now 2-3 seagates & never had any issue's with them as well ...

That said if your talking preformancewise .... the tests have sugested that on a Sata 6.0 level the Seagate's with the 1 tb platters have better preformance then the wd blacks ..... If you dont care about preformance & just price/storage either 1 that is cheaper will do. :)

How does this work? Do they provide you with the exact model that got hosed? Or they will just give you the equivalent at the time (or lesser model)? Or upgrade you in the same line (like black, green, red etc)?

same here....I mean I would use the excuse to buy an SSD or even another HDD, but I would definitely want the RMAed unit.
