No. It is value line SSDs that are driving prices ever lower. Dont like the V4? Fine. BUT respect what Crucial has done for the consumers with this drive.
This! This is why I can now afford an Intel 520 256GB SSD. Great look at this drive and may Crucial benefit from it as they have benefited customers with choice.

I did'nt know the prices had dropped so much ,you can get a 256gig for $169 .I think i paid $209 for mine but I love it ,it boots up quick and I get a 7.9 on the WEI in windows 7 64bit ,can't ask for no better unless I buy a bigger drive, but this one is plenty for my boot drive .I have 2 1-TB drives and three 640gigs to load my games and movies on.

I think the V4 is a product that should have been released two years ago. At that point in time there was enough of a price delta to make something like this attractive. I love the Crucial M4 but I think Crucial made a poor decision coming out with the V4 at this point in time. With the volumes they sell of the M4 my guess is that their production costs are pretty much the same, or will be shortly. They should have just put the money they spent developing this into marketing the M4 more effectively.

Performance versus affordability. I like both, but sometimes there is a compromise. Unless there's a clearance. Honestly, this will fit anyone jumping from a standard HDD.
