My System Specs

Default SATA 6GB/s

OK so I have a SATA3 SSD and a SATA3 motherboard, now I see SATA3 cables, is that needed for 6GB/s speed or is it just a gimmick?

Not you don't need a special SATA III cable the one you have will work just fine.Just another way they can make money.
