Replacing the HDD In My Studio 15 w/ a SSD
Hey there SSD guru's :thumb:
I am looking for a 128GB SSD to replace the 500gb HDD in my laptop. I have had this thing for over a year, and have only used 111GB of space on it - that is including all the games on it (that I want to remove).
I have an external WD Caviar Black that I use for mass media. Hence, why I am only looking for a 128GB
I want a good reliable SSD for it. Something that wont shit out on me right away - like those OCZ ones I always read about crapping out.
I am looking for the best reliability to performance ratio.
Oh... I found some TV shows... I've only used 76GB of the 500GB I have
Crucial M4 or Intel 520.
Side note: the problem with OCZ's drives wasn't OCZ. It was the Sandforce controller, which is used in many drives manufactured by various companies, and the Sandforce firmware. Intel's 520 uses the Sandforce controller, but while every other company spent the last 18 months selling SF-2281 drives and dealing with customer complaints, Intel spent that time testing the drive and firmware. As a result, Intel has its own firmware for the SF-2281 controller, which means it should not experience the problems seen with other SF-2281 drives.
I'm a big fan of anything non-sandforce (excluding the new Intel ones). I usually only recommend Crucial(M4) and Intel(320 or 520) ssd's.
Edit: Ninja'd
Yup, the M4 was what I was looking at. It has a good price point too, and I have seen a lot of people using them in their build.
Samsung 830 or Crucial M4 are what I'd suggest.
