Default Hard Drive Noises

What sounds should a HDD make? 'Cause on my mom's computer, the HDD, a brand new 500GB WD Caviar Black, is making sounds that sound like water drops dropping from the faucet into the sink every few seconds or so. It kinda sounds like a clicking. After listening to my WD RE4, it doesn't have that sound. So is the WD Black about to die?

Could be that the hard drive is going to sleep or the heads are parking?

If it's Windows 7, go into the advanced power settings and make sure "turn hard disk off after" is set to never.

Hm, it does seem that the sleeping thing is the problem. Thanks!
