Question Intel 311 SSD drive and windows 7

Hi

I am new here but not new to building computers...

Right now I have Asus P67 sabertooth motherboard, intel i3-2100T cpu , 16 GB DDR3 memory, Asus nvidia GR520 silent video card, Seasonic X-400 Fanless power supply plus Noctua fans and using Intel X25-M 120 GB SSD.

What I like to do is use Intel 311 20GB drive for Windows 7 operating system and everything else put on to Intel X25-M 120gb ssd.

Is this possible? I know with the Intel X25-M 120 gb drive have 111gb space not 120gb. How much space is available on the Intel 311 20gb ssd? I am sure it must be less than thw 20gb? Windows 7 64bit show 18.8 gb used I check ssd properties

note: hardwareheaven.com states 18.5GB available , can windows 7 home premium fit on that?

Yes. But it would be a lot of work. You start by installing Windows. But before you create your user you would likely need to create symlinks for your program files and user folder to the second ssd. You also would not be able to use hibernation.

Read this over and give it a try if you feel comfortable. You should be able to do the Program Files directories at the same time.

Move the Users Directory in Windows 7

Why would you even bother? Just install win 7 on the larger SSD. Dump other files onto the smaller SSD, as a storage pool. Or redirect your user folder to the 20 gig SSD.
