Caviar black? Caviar Blue? Salmon orange? - Updated with shameless plug

I just want a hard drive to install my games and VMs...
Sata 6gb, 500gb or more in the 50$ range
Long gone are the days when you only had 2 options... Seagate or WD.

For WD, you got Black for performance, Green for storage/energy efficiency, Blue for a compromise in between both.
For Seagate, I think you only have regular and green (for energy efficient at the cost of speed).

500gb 7200.12 39.99
750gb Caviar Black 59.99
1tb Caviar Green 60.92

In reality there is only two choices for drives; WD and Seagate as I won't trust anything else.

For WD you have Green, Blue, and Black and Seagate has two diff ones.

He is right. WD Black are great for performance. :thumb:

Agree with the breakdown on the models listed above. Most people really like WD Black. Personally I have and have used in a few other builds seagate 7200.12 500GB and one 7200.12 1TB and have had zero problems, nothing but good things to say, and saved a few bucks (they are usually quite a bit cheaper than WD Black).

I have a 7200.12 500GB for a games drive and it hasn't given me any issues at all, so i recommend it.
