seems changing the parking meter to off can be a bad idea in some cases, so put it at max allowed(5mins)

what is that 8 sec thing ? , the hard drive park the head if not use for 8 sec. ?

Yup, the heads park but the discs keep spinning. Its part of the whole "green" BS, in that it reduces power consumption (or so WDC claims)...BUT those parts have a VERY finite amount of wear and tear they can take before the break.

really easy. you can do a few at a time, make sure you disconnect every other drive before you do it. if you have data on one of them, back it up!

back it up????? is it destructive or the back up is just in case, I just finish to transfer 400 gb

who knows? the guy himself who wrote the guide on ncix says so too sooo...:)

listen, i did it to a bunch of drives, some virgin others with data, but i cant guarantee

that your files will be ok.

I set it up to 300 sec ( 5 minutes) is it better to turn it off ?
