Default Are Intel's X25 SSD still the best?

Pardon my ignorance, but I pretty much behind in SSD news lately. Looking on advice to pick couple SSD's for my rig. Is Intel X25 still a decent choice?

Still good but there is better IMO. Crucial C300/400 are far better and also OCZ vertex ( the last gen ) are faster. If you want pure speed, OCZ revo drive.
Now let's wait until someone say I'm wrong and post a better answer :)

I personally wouldn't be going w/ an X25-M at the moment. The Crucial C400 is just around the corner but it is a Sata 6Gbps drive and if your signature is still correct your board does not have Sata 6Gbps. There should be a new X25-M in the next month or two likely. It won't bring much more performance to the table but it will bring a better GB/$.

I too would recommend against the Intel, not because it is a bad choice, but becuase there are better out there now and the new gen 3 will be out soon. Which IIRC (and rumors are correct...no idea TBH...YET) will bring a huge gain on the seq speed of the drives (low end will be the same'ish...or so goes the last rumor I heard).

Vertex 2 or Callisto Deluxe would be my first picks IF your mobo doesnt have Sata 6gb/s (but you are running in AHCI mode and Win 7)....and if it does the C400 is just around the corner making the C300 a HARD to justify purchase!

Now with that being said the X25gen 2 and the C300 are still both VERY good choices and if you can get them for a very good price either would make you happy. I just dont know if I would pay full price for them....if you know what I mean. ;)

That interesting. I didn't know all new crop is due shortly. I think I can squash "must upgrade" flu bug for few months for sake of newer model and switch on my RAM water cooling project.

That is awesome to have such a great place as HWC. Thank you guys!

Vertex 3 was announced during CES 2011 and should be available at major retailers. If they are actually as fast they claim it will be ridonkulous fast.

RevoDrive should also have replacement by the time Vertex gets replaced. I can't remember but I'm pretty sure RevoDrive has 1GBps Write time. AMAZING.
