Default Need help buy two 1tb drive or one 2tb drive.

I am in need of storage my 2tb black caviar is on its last gb. I have been doing some research and found out if you get 2 1tb drive are better than having 2tb drive (because they are unreliable due to there tech) or i might be wrong.
Is there a 2tb external hard drive that's reliable i am not looking at? I was going to be buy lacie 2tb hard drive from future shop, or 2 samsung f3 or f4 7200rpm, but i can't seem to find them in Toronto.

I don't want to spend 180 for another 2tb blacks witch would be the best thing to do, but i don't have the money right now i need your help thanks in advance.

You could order one of these? Not the fastest 2TB drive sinec they are 5400 but for storage speed is not what matter. They also go down to 79$ pretty often

Newegg.ca - SAMSUNG Spinpoint F4 HD204UI 2TB 5400 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive

I'd also suggest a sister backup drive for every storage drive you have. Having a drive suddenly die on you and losing 2TB data probably wouldn't be fun.

wd for all mechanical drives in terms of reliability. gent up here is correct, but it gets expensive just for backups, unless the data is expensive itself :)

well, i would get a 2tb drive and save that extra space for a second 1tb/2tb purely for backup of important files.

The caviar greens 2tb are not reliable, I have seen many reviews, and it's ridiculous what the percentage of failure rate. The one that martin suggested are alot better.

Any other opinions.

If you check new egg review and alot of computer store like tiger direct, they show they don't last long. So i don't want to take the chance of losing 2 tb data, And yes i know half of those people that are using it are giving it bad review for DOA that doesn't count; but i went and looked at the samsung, and it has no where near that much bad reviews. I don't just look at the number i actually read it to make sure.
