Question 6GB/s HDDs worthless?

My new 3GB/s WD Caviar Green 2TB only 20% slower than my new WD Caviar BLue 250GB 6GB/s.
Can mechanical HD fully utilise their bandwidth? Or is 6GB essentially for SSDs?

check specs for the ...specs.

Consumer level HDDs cant even saturate 3GB/s SATA 2.0 bandwidth let alone the new 6GB/s spec. 6GB/s is mainly for SSDs....BUT as time goes by hdds...MAY get fast enough to justify it. With that being said I do like the new'ish WD 1TB. Its a peppy little hard drive! :)

Peppy yes.
6GB/s fast no.

But they are definitely a nice little drive.

Can I get a link to this new 1TB Drive? I'm in need of a new main OS drive for my normal PC, also is it better then the 2TB Black?

Your 2TB black is faster. I like the 1TB as its CHEAP and FAST....whereas the 2's are "just" insanely fast. With that being said I cant wait for the 3TB Blacks to hit (which is probably going to be Q1 2011) so the 2s will get cheap. :)~

Hard drives will most likely never reach that speed in the near future.

As a correction though, let's not mistake people with GB/s and Gbps...two totally different numbers! For the uninformed, the OP is talking Gbps (gigaBIT per second, not gigaBYTE)!
