Default SATA 2

Hey guys,

I was looking at getting a big hard drive for download storage. I currently have 3 500GBs, and I'm wanting to get a 1.5TB or a 2TB drive to put all 3 drives contents onto, then run the three 500 gigs in raid like I had setup last year.

I saw the WD 2 tb drive on NCIX, NCIX.com - Buy Western Digital WD20EARS Caviar Green 2TB SATA2 3GBPS 64MB Cache 3.5IN Hard Drive OEM - WD20EARS In Canada.

But it is a SATA2 drive, and I'm not sure if my motherboard can support that.

I have a Maximus Formula motherboard, if anyone could guide me on this, it would be greatly appreciated.

Yup it'll work fine. SATA1, 2, 3 are all backwards compatible anyways. Just theoretically slower, but I don't think a HDD saturates the bus anyways.
