hehe it's OK, let's blaim it on Kingston and their very creative (read:confusing) product names

Too bad $100 is usually translated to €100 (~$137) oh well.. :P

BUT let the rig idle from time to time. A couple hours a week should be more than enough.
AMD driver is supposed to support TRIM now.

Great news if true, but unfortunately at the moment is proving difficult to confirm as the AMD support site is bogged down.

edit: No reference in the release notes.....

http://www2.ati.com/relnotes/catalys...ease_notes.pdf

Lack of information on chipset drivers explained here, but still no access to any links off of the support page....

Note:
These release notes provide information on the ATI Radeon™
display driver only. For information on the ATI Multimedia
Center™, HydraVision™, HydraVision Basic Edition, Remote
Wonder™, or the Southbridge/IXP driver, please refer to their
respective release notes found at:
http://support.amd.com/.

edit2: A quick google search suggests that they might have rolled back the AHCI driver in the 10.10 release, and the Rage3D report seems to be the only one, so I definitely don't have that "warm fuzzy" feeling on this report.

Let us know how you make out (including what driver version it says it is).

I can see the file as well, but what I can't find are any kind of release notes or official recognition that TRIM is finally being supported. I'm also a bit concerned about the thread over on the OCZ forums that suggests the 10.10 cat drivers shipped with the pre-10.9 version of the AHCI driver.

It seems odd the lack of any kind of information but apparently it was officilly confirmed to Jim , so i don't know.

AMD AHCI Driver Catalyst 10.9, version 1.2.1.263 supports TRIM. I got confirmation from AMD officially today.

I'm not calling bullpucky yet, but it seems very strange that it's only been announced on one website, and that there don't appear to be any official release notes and/or announcements on a subject that they're starting to take a bit of heat on.

I'd like to think it's true, but a real quantative test for trim operation is a fairly involved process so it's easy for them to say it's there through a back door without getting immediately called out on it.

Alright, I have no clue what to look at in order to figure out if TRIM is working, all I know is that the drivers are installed properly and that I can check that the version is this...

Does this new driver work for AMD 790FX chipsets?

You *probably* won't have it working right now because you're using an AMD Driver.

I am/maybe sure about that.
