Default AKG and other fellow SSD gurus best sub 120$ SSD

Howdy,

I would like to know what would represent the best SSD boot drive below $120.
Size between 40GB (Intel or Sandforce) and 60-64GB (indilinx, Sandforce, Jmicron)

One of the best deals around is the Kingston SSDnow V series 64GB for around $100 on sale.
$109 for an Intel X25-V 40GB.
Gskill Phoenix pro 40gb for around $120.

I'd rather a 60-64GB, but if the kingston 64gb is slow, I'd rather go for a Sandforce 40...

controller would be ICH8 (mobo GA-965P-ds3) OS is win7 64...

If you can get by with 40gb the SF options (corsair, ocz, skill, mushkin, etc) would be a MUCH better choice. If you can squeeze the budget to 140 then you have the 60gb SFs to pick from which will be slightly faster. but if 120 is your hard limit get a SandForce and enjoy, the dif in speed will be night and day between it and the intel 40 and the eons better then the V.
YMMV but get a 40 or 60 SF and enjoy. :)

Yeah,
Last week I picked a Vertex 2 60GB for $120 after MIR (NCIX), that was an awesome deal...
I don't find it's faster than my Vertex 120GB boot time-wize.. (kk different machine, so it's hard to compare).

So I'll settle for a SF option, preferably a 60GB'er!

I have a 256gb V+, an agility 120gb and recently purchased a Vertex 2 120gb. The vertex is on sale for the grand opening of the new NCIX in Scarberia. $199, WOW! Any way. I used the Windows 7 rating system, which you take with a grain of salt. The Agility was 7.3; the V+ was 7.4 and the V2 was 7.9, all as an OS. Mind you, they weren't the size you want, but it gives you an idea on performance.

Hope that helps.

Yep ...W7 Ratings...pretty funny really....
7.9 straight across the Board except:

- 7.7 Intel G2 SSD
- 7.8 CPU ( 980X 4.1 Ghz) ....take it with a grain of salt indeed!!

It does. But the V+ is better than the V-series, so they're not to be compared. Also, the pricing on V+ part is high.

Right now, the best deals are on Vertex 2s I agree. Like I said, I bought one for my Dad for $120 after MIR...should've got one also for my second rig.
