Default Looking For: Blu-Ray Reader

Hey guys,

I'm looking for a Blu-Ray reader that can also burn DVD (+/-, DL). I saw the Lite-On one at NCIX for $70 and was wondering if that is any good. It only reads at 4x though... Does read speed really matter?

That was it. I totally overlooked that it wasnt a DVD burner. Im thinking that it wont really matter if it burns or not, it would just be a bonus.

People actually still burn CD/DVD's?

I seriously can't remember the last time I did so. I think a year or so ago to update SSD firmware on my macbook pro.

haha ... same here. My drive is in my case but it is not hooked up atm, and hasn't been for a while. With hard drives being so cheap these days, I needed the sata port for another drive.

Nice find ZZLEE However, that drive seems dated, as it does HDDVD too, which is dead.

I have one of those combo ones in my HTPC. It is a little slow starting a movie but once started it plays everything fine. Never used it to burn since I don't use my HTPC for anything but BRD and streaming.

NCIX.com - Buy LG CH10LS20 Bluray Reader & DVD Writer Combo Drive 10X BD-ROM 16X DVD-RW Lightscribe SATA Retail Box - CH10LS20.AVBR10B In Canada.

I've been using one of those for about 1-1.5 years and it works great. Also has lightscribe which is useless for everyday stuff since it takes about 20 mins and the blanks are more expensive, but it is cool to lightscribe discs you burn for others.

or for a few more bucks you can get a blu ray burner. Blanks are still very expensive, but just like DVDR and DL DVDR the price will drop dramatically sometime in the near future.
