My System Specs

Default

You just need do a regedit first, then go into the bios and change to ahci.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Msahci (or Iastorv if Msahci isn't there)

Right click on "start" in the name column, then click "modify"
type a 0 (zero) in the value data box, then click "OK"
exit the registry editor.

Reboot into the bios, probably somewhere in the advanced settings, you should be able to change how sata is seen.
The default is often sata seen as ide, change it to ahci. Anytime you clear your cmos, you'll have to change it back.

Then boot it up, it'll install the msahci driver, then call for a restart after that's done.

Restart and you're now ahci instead of ide.

I ordered one of the X25-M drives in the ncix sale, changed this machine over to ahci yesterday.
