First post near the end under Win7:

"4. Sanitary Erase before installing Win 7 to a 'used' drive (deletes all MBR/Volume info and creates 'raw' space for Win 7 to install onto). Remember this will create the hidden 100MiB partition."

P45 is ICH10r

Here is the OCZ post of mine where they tell me to do SE after a FW update. See post #8 and #9. This is a very common recommendation for all people who are having data corruption issues (just search the forums and you will see).

Support Question Do I dare upgrade to 1.5FW?

Ok, that makes more sense. But there is a big dif between saying EVERYONE should do it and doing it if YOU are having issues. Hell, reading through that post it looks like something else is causing your issues....not the SSDs.

i can see your point but like akg said before this is a new install and from what i can see this is only for people who have had data corruption problems. doing this on a ssd that works fine makes no sense to me at all. jm2cents and i want my change

Is it the same for all SSD? Should a Intel X-25M be treated differently? I have been reading this to get prepared for my build.

That is definitely overkill and or a great example of diminishing returns. BUT if you have the time, inclination and want to get that last 1/10th of 1% more performance from your drive....go for it. For myself I find the tweaks in the Guide Gingerbee linked be more than enough. I doubt unless you are into benchmarking you would notice any dif between the two. Hell, doing no tweaks vs the win 7 guide tweaks will only net moderate to minor noticeable gains! ;)
