The V+ is a solid alternative to a full speed Indilinx, so it should be nice!
What's you're plan for the V-series gen 2? Are you putting it in a laptop?

Yup, going to take it out of the desktop and put it into a new Asus U30JC-A1. Then put the new V+ into the desktop. So the drive and notebook should be here next week. Will be doing a review on the notebook for here and will do some posts about the performance difference between the V and V+.

Well I have gotten the new V+ drive. So over the weekend I will be putting it into my main machine and then the V into the new notebook. I will be posting full benchmarks on the drives after that.

The OCZ LE 100GB (one w/ Sandforce controller, right?) is about $350 or a bit more. Still a bit more than I would like to spend but close to what I want in performance and capacity. :)

Not sure how I'd / I'll afford something like *this* and a video card upgrade, though. :-/

If OCZ can get to $300 territory, though... I'll be so tempted...

Anyone have a solid recommendation for ~$250?.

Is this any good?

NCIX.com - Buy OCZ Vertex 96GB 2.5IN SATA 2 Indilinx Solid State Disk Flash Drive SSD - OCZSSD2-1VTX96G In Canada.

or should I get an Intel G2 for $210?

Get the Intel G2, unless you have the extra cash for an Agility 2 or Vertex 2 OCZ SSD's.

For most peoples needs, the Intel will be a faster drive.
Game load time will be longer then with the Vertex...but overall most peeps prefer the Intel power curve to that of the Indilinx drives.
YMMV...but 210 is a killer deal for a killer drive.

What is up w/ this 96GB Vertex? I was rather confused when I saw this yesterday.

My guess is either they are getting "fancy" with the naming shceme...or it only has 12 of the 16 slots filled with NAND. Most likely just a new wonky size to help fill the gap they have right now. In either case I prolly wouldn't want to be the first to try it (and be a guniea pig) and see how it compared to the 60 and 120 models. YMMV

Seeming how the Vertex was so tasty, how about this: Newegg.ca - OCZ Vertex 2 OCZSSD2-2VTXE60G 2.5" 60GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

or: Newegg.ca - Intel X25-M Mainstream SSDSA2M080G2XXX 2.5" 80GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) - SSD 20GB more for the same price?

I've got $60 to put towards an SSD, but its got to be from Newegg. Anything else I should be looking at? all these new drives hitting the market have confused me.
