Default NEW Vertex 60G...What should I do to install?

Just got my 1st SSD (SSD-noob) FW is 1.4..formatted and ready to go to load Win7 x64 OS..Do I need to do anything PRIOR to loading the OS + apps..or is there a 1.41FW avail..rather do this b4 OS load

no just load the OS and tweak Windows 7 - Ultimate SSD Speed Tweaks
those and turn off ready boot and page file. jmo

You should be OK to just go ahead and install unless W7 needs your board's driver disk ready (highly unlikely).

Only other thing is check the firmware prior to install, making sure it's the newest.

When I did my vertex 60gb, just install W7... one of the smoothest Installs that I have ever done.

What a S-W-E-E-T drive.. I'm so impressed I may just buy a 2nd and Raid0 them..will this be "that" much faster then the 60G single or should I save my $$..I already have 8G 1600 mem..??

um most people kinda think raid ssd's is overkill but that doesn't stop me. they speed up pretty good. that's jmo

Unless you're doing large writes repeatedly, I don't think raiding them would be worth the $$.

don't forget to move your pagefile to another HDD, also turn off hibernation it will net you some space
