Default NCIX black friday got me, now question about intel SSD

Hey,

I will be installing the new intel SSD on my lap top. Now, My current drive is a 500 G hard disk, and I installed window from the HP partition. I also spent a good 2-3 hours tweaking and installing programs, changing settings, erasing the stupid bundled HP programs....

I was thinking about simply imaging the drive onto the SSD.....

BUT, reading around it seems I could be facing problem with TRIM and other windows 7 SSD goodies If I dont do a clean install. Is this true ? Anyone got a good read on this ? Help appreciated !

It was kinda discussed here: Disk Cloning and SSD

Something about how Win7 will align the partition different if you have a SSD. I think you are better off just doing a fresh install

Don't forget to update the firmware when it comes out to actually enable TRIM.

Yes, you can't do a clone or image of a HDD install and move it to a SSD, you will mess up the alignment. Will it do anything? It won't wreck anything, all it may do is decrease performance by abit.
