The Dane-Elec (Intel G1 rebadge) 80GB for $199 at Newegg.ca is a great deal IMO. Even fully degraded outperforms the Vertex drives.

Additionally, where the heck did you find the deal on newegg?
I didn't find anything like it.

Assuming Samsung keeps its promise it will be an end user flashable firmware update.

Honestly, both are good drives. Either would be a good choice.
IF I had to chose...Id go for the P128....and hope that Samsung doesnt screw its customers over like Intel did with the gen 1 X25-M.

This is assuming 128Gb Falcon 2 vs P128. 256Gb Falcon 2....id take the small hit in speed for twice the room ;)

I would avoid the X-25M gen 1 like the plague. It MAY have better degraded performance than others...BUT all the others will never get to a degraded state. ITGC and or TRIM FTW ;)

I was talking about the normal falcon/vertex.
The older one, not the one with the ECO controller.

P128 is $30 cheaper than the original Falcon (I).
For $30 cheaper, P128 is a better choice, isn't it?

Oh hells no!

THAT makes it a no brainer. Get the Falcon 1. Full speed NAND + kick ass controller = GREAT choice.
Why risk Samsung screwing you over when you can get TRIM right NOW.
Plus its just a better drive.

Hmmmm, another question :)

Intel X25-M 80GB G2 SSD, how are they?

There is a deal for them and a copy of W7 ult, which I was planning
to get anyways (currently have W7 home from a upgrade owed).

Oh, BTW, anyone seen a review of the Falcon II with the ECO controller?
I've searched for one, but there are only news articles relating to it's release...
