We here at Hardware Canucks love brand new hardware. Who wouldn't?

Unfortunately, sometimes that new hardware might look fast, shiny and well manufactured but the reality is far from what was expected.

Allow us to present to you our review of the A-Data S592 SSD; a product that has great potential but one the manufacturer really doesn't care about enough to keep it up to date. As such, its competition takes it to the cleaners.

I have 2 of them speed is great but will not be buying anymore of these no FW updates
EDIT: glad to hear it about the crystal disk info i thought my a-data's where going to byte the dust soon

You sure your 32 gig's are the same as the 128's?

a little slower but almost the same drive but never again ( i want company's that are a little more involved at the customer level ) 20mb slower across the board

Why the heck would anyone buy this drive when the Vertex or Corsair drives are almost the same price?

hi sky, nice review,

got a typo here :

free way to upgrade it. e can honestly not imagine why this drive came with pre-version

and brian, if you dont want intel, go with vertex or any other upgradable indilinx drive. I like Ocz for the great customer support/forum.

Right now you have LOTS of great options.
My preference is for either the Intel X2m gen2 or 120Gb Vertex. After that you have Gskill Falcon & Patriot Torqx.

All 4 companies have their pros and cons but as I said in a few other threads:
If you can get by with 80GB get the Intel ;)
IF you need 120GB get a Vertex/Falcon/Torqx. W/ personal preference to OCZ as they have a BIG advantage on the firmware front (they have 1.41 which has TRIM).
IF longevity is a concern (which is really not a big deal these days...BUT peace of mind IS priceless) AND you can get by with 60GB AND don't mind spending $400 or so look into the Agility EX SLC based SSD. VERY sweet drive. I replaced a 128 Torqx in my personal laptop with one and noticed a big bump in speed.

Windows 7 + modern SSD makes for one potent combination!

YMMV but any of those drives listed above would make a great way to enter into the SSD experience. After using SSDs you will never look at Hard Disk Drives (even the VRaptor) the same way again. :)
