Default question flashing ocz vertex series

currently i am running 2 HDD in RAID 0 planning to up grade to 2 x OCZ vertex 60gb in raid 0

i was reading the guide on flashing and twiiking the drives and come across that the SSD must be flashed in SATA port 0 1 or 2 and in IDE mode

is there anyway to by pass it or i have to get another single HDD with os on it in order to flash the SSD?

My System Specs

Default

Depending on the firmware you can flash in other modes (NOT RAID) but IDE is the one they can guarantee will work. Most of the firmware versions flash from a USB key or bootable CD so they are OS independent. The SATA port 0 - 2 is only to make sure you are on a primary port and not some data only port.
