Default 16x vs 22x sata drive?

This is a 22x sata drive: LG GH22NS50 Black 22X SATA DVD Writer OEM - DirectCanada

This is a 16x sata drive: LG 16X DVD-ROM Drive Internal SATA OEM - DirectCanada

I am wondering if I will see a difference in performance in these two drives if I'm just using the drives for games and movies? if there's no difference Im going to get the 16x one. (in my next build evry penny is counting)

TIA

The price difference is because one of those drives only reads CDs and DVDs, and the more expensive one can write to CDs and DVDs as well. You won't see any difference in terms of read speeds, so you should decide based on whether or not you plan on burning any discs.

I think you need to floss a little more often!

... sorry couldn't help myself :)

Had some bad experience with the LG GSA-55xx series optical drives. Bought about a dozen and a third were bad.. complete lemons. Have a few GH-22xx series drive and they appear to be a huge improvement.. just remember to flash the firmware to get rid of some annoying bloatware crap.
