Default Really Noobie Question ?

A 8mb, 16mb or a 32mb Cache on a sata hard drive what is the diffrence ?
Im ready to buy a hdd but i can get a 8mb for the same price is there any diffrence ?

Can you be more specific as to which hard drives you are comparing (model numbers & brand)? Also, what will the hard drive be used for? USB external drive? OS? Backup data?

I wouldn't try to compare HDDs based on spindle speed (RPMs) and cache size alone because there are so many other factors that come in these days (intended use for the HDD, platter density, "green" technology that spins down the HDD, dual processor in the case of Caviar Black, improvements from going from older to newer generations, etc).

I am looking at this one here - Maxtor 1TB Hard Drive SATAII 7200rpm 32MB Cache - OEM - Ebuyer or Western Digital 1.5TB Hard Drive SATAII 7200rpm 32MB Cache - OEM - Ebuyer
