Gah, SSD's are 4x as reliable. So RAID 0 ssd's are half as likely to fail.

No moving parts.

These things make no heat.

I've run Raid 0 for 10 years now and have yet to have a failure. With mechanical drives.

Takes 7 minutes to image my entire SSD array off to my mechanical drive.

Geez.

I just might get two 30gb OCZ Vertex's, and a 640gb/1TB WD Black

I think that is a good choice. I'm debating whether to get a 2nd vertex or go with the new intel x25m 80gb

I would go w/ the new X25-M G2. But if you want to wait a few days I am doing a rather large real-world RAID0 comparison, so show what benefits (if any) there are to RAID0.

30GB is a tad small for Windows Vista and Windows 7, so you might wanna step up to a 60GB SSD. 30GB is enough though if you plan to instal only the OS on the SSD, and everything else on the other hard drives.
Yep I ain't paying those prices either.
30gi is nothing with an OS and Office, apps on board all updates etc.

no but you use to pay that for an hd ( everybody did ) ( sorry but the time of ssd's is here ) silly agreement i think i have been running 1 ssd on a temp htpc not 1 problem becuase you keep all your data and games on a spinner. Vista with all updates and apps is only like 21 or 22 gigs. The slow down what slow down? even my warps v2's after all the benchmarking and running them in to the ground the slowest it every goes is 150mb/s which ain't slow fears of ssd's a point less.
IMO 1 of the best upgrades you can do

I never typed anything about a slow down
Most certainly ssds are the newest toy, no denying that one.
My current drives have a 5 year mail in warranty
I have lost 1 new drive total in all the years of 3 computers here, 2 or 3 drives per machine
These new ssd generally have two year warranty?
even the old ide drives I bought had 5 years and yes and same relative pricing and size
I can wait.
I am not into the latest and greatest club.
I practise delayed acquisition in things that depreciate rapidly(computers and accessories are the worst) but thats me.
I put my spare money into investments.

Though not the same topic, It will be interesting enough when usb 3 hits the streets to.
I guess everybody will toss out their motherboards, mice, keyboards, peripherials and such
