My System Specs

Default GSkill Falcon 64Gb SSD

Hey folks,
Thinking of purchasing this over the next few months to replace my 74GB Raptor..
http://ncix.com/products/index.php?s...l&promoid=1187

Now, I will do a complete clean install..questions, as I have no experience with SSD's at all:
1. What is the power consumption like in comparison to a 74GB Raptor..less or more?
2. Is it as easy as plugging it in, inserting my OS disc and installing?

Thanks in advance

1. It's less, way less than HDD's. No motor.

2. Should be, although you could clone your Raptor and avoid a re-install.

If you plan on using XP or Vista there are a number of tweaks that have to be done to the OS in order to get it to run correctly. If you are going to install Win7 RC, then you would just install the OS like normal.

I've found the best place for SSD setup instructions to be the OCZ forums. I've got two 64GB G.Skill Falcon's running in RAID 0 and the OCZ forums were alot of help.

Are the Tweaks done after the install or in the BIOS?

Thanks guys!

After the install from within the OS.

Ok...thanks a lot..if I go this route (thinking of replacing my 74GB Raptor with a 640 Black) I'll certainly have a look at the OCZ Forum...
Thanks
