no it's the newest southbridge for the x58 boards. it will do just fine. no all on board raid setups are all software.
(p.s just to let you know hardware raid cards are upwards of 400 dollars. on board is just fine. Most of us here running raid using on board i believe.)

Honestly?...don't know, I don't use them with the G-Skills Falcons. I disabled the jmicrons in the bios and plugged the drives into the reg sata ports and then set the raid array, worked like a charm. But I'm not sure what it is he's trying to set up so I'd prefer to talk to him and see if I can help or not. I'm not really that experienced with raid but I found setting up my G-Skills on this board to be very easy and with great results.

Dude.. take 20 minutes, and make your custom windows disc using vlite with your raid drivers on it.. seriously, it will WORK, be done with this crap. I spent a whole weekend failing at it too, don't even do it. Just use vlite, TRUST ME!

the problem was with the jmicron, but not a booting issue. I believe (as kruzn explained it to me) that the Jmicron controller on the motherboard was interfering with the Indilux controller in the SSD's.

The other issue could have been due to the "warm" copy of Vista x64 I was trying to install. I was holding off buying it because I'm not a huge fan of vista. I'd rather wait until the release of windows 7 64 bit...but as kruzn pointed out to me "why dont you just download the release candidate...its free". Damn did I feel like an idiot after that!

so anyways, long story short, I"m now up and running (thanks again Kruzn)
