Discussion thread for QNAP TS-201 review Please post any flames, comments, questions etc. |
Looks like a pretty cool unit. Am I correct in assuming that it doesn't use proprietary software for the networking? I remember looking at a single HD box a while ago but it used it's own software for access. |
One more question.... Did you get a chance to check out the backup software? Does it include a "complete restore over the network" option? Heh.... gotta get something like this... |
It does offer the option of network restore, but honestly I couldn't figure out how it worked... And there's a web-based interface for the unit, but it's quite simple to navigate, and there's no proprietary interface required just to access files. |
Hi! I read the review and thought that maybe in this community someone can help me. Its really hard to find threads with background information to the TS-201. Well, my problem is that my TS-201 is not able to handle the user management. I want to give access to a usergroup which should be able to get access to some folders (that works partly - some users have access, some users not!?) and access to the Qdownload-interface (to downloads BTs). But I always get errors which tell that you have to be an administrator. Why? Is this a bug? Why should just admins have the right to the download-site. The user management wouldn't make any sense, if its just allowed for the admins. Please report your experiences, cAge |
