My $200 Raid 0 will eat yer teeny SSD on many benchies, and have more than double the capacity . i'll stick with "crappy" spindle drives for now except where space limited.

I agree, it will eat it on many benchies. Until your RAID0 the SSD's! Anyways, I really havnt done the research comparison between a Raid 0 setup of spindle drives and a single SSD setup.

However, I think you'll notice the SSD is snappier more in the real world, then the raid 0 setup, except in your pocketbook

I think the G-Skill Falcon is about the best bet considering price/performance. At $225 for a 64gb drive with amazing performance you can't go wrong really. The OCZ Vertex is $20 more and is 60gb, but they are also doing alot by creating a program that resets your drive (I'm sure someone will better explain what the program actually does) to improve performance and make it freely available. Not too many companies even think about doing these kinds of things anymore. So it may be worth the extra money to support them.

on throughput benches yes. But in every other task an SSD will mope the floor with your mechanical drives.

does anyone know of any programs other that the adobe CS4 suite that wont install on a SSD? because that could cause some problems of something like punk buster or steam wont install on your HDD

I've never had an application that wouldn't install including CS4.

Hold off on buying the X25-M though. Their 2nd gen SSD's are shipping currently AFAIK. Should be available in a week or two.
