isn't the Falcon or the Vertex slightly overkill?

I just need something that will perform better than the 3200BEVT;
and has none of those studders occurring from Jmicron sh!t.

BTW, anyone know which SSDs do not have Jmicron controllers?

Vertex and the Falcon are the cheapest drives out there that don't use Jmicron.

Default Vertex ...

I just bought a 30gb OCZ Vertex drive, to be used as an OS drive, and damn, what a worthwhile investment !

Mind you, I had to do many tweaks that can be found on the OCZ forum, but for a single drive setup, I'm thoroughly impressed

And setting it up wasn't too long nor hard.

I am definitely considering buying a second one down the road for raid-0.

Cheers!

So, SSDs normally don't come with 2.5" to 5.25" converters?

My OS drive already takes 60GB and I have to install more apps, 80GB X25-M would be pretty tight, 120GB Vertex may be better. What's considered a good deal nowdays? Below $400?

How about this one:

Newegg.ca - OCZ Vertex Series OCZSSD2-1VTX120G 2.5" 120GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid state disk (SSD) - Solid State Disks

No, SSDs usually come with literally nothing but the box, a 1 page instruction pamphlet and the drive itself.

The Newegg vertex is a pretty good deal since it has free shipping as well.

Just ordered one, and this is what I'm gonna use for bay mounting:

OCZ Technology | Products | Flash Media | OCZ Solid State Drive 3.5" Adaptor Bracket

Yes, it's better, those simple brackets end up costing $43 after sh&taxes. Might just place it at the bottom of case.

They recommend flashing it with latest firmware before installing. Current is 1.10, but they said new version is coming in a few days.
