Default Yet another question about SSD

Ok. I've decided to try out an SSD and see how it performs. I'm most likely going to get either the Vertex 60GB or the Samsung SLC 64GB. They both cost $265 with tax and shipping. Any recommandations as to which one I should get?

Also, I have 2 WD Blacks in RAID0. Is it possible to keep the RAID while booting off from the SSD? Or is it just going to be like my current setup, where I either pick booting off a non-RAID drive in IDE mode, or boot in RAID mode and pretty much lose the benefits of an SSD?

Skip on the SLC drive. It will last longer, but it is very slow. 100MB/s reads and 80MB/s writes.

Yes can still use the RAID0 setup. The SSD will just be in non-member RAID mode, which is the same as AHCI.

'used' fw1275 120GB w/ MFT. Without MFT the 4k writes are about to 10MB/s.

'used' fw1275 30GB w/o MFT

Hey Gingerbee.....the NEW Corsair generation 2 is coming very soon ;) If you do a search for Corsair P256....you will see a review or two. Surprisingly they didn't call it a Dominator which has fueled speculation that MAYBE, just maybe they are going to go the way OCZ has and have THREE lines (and release the third ultra performance model in 3rd or 4th Quarter). This is all speculation and I do NOT have an inside scoop but it wouldn't surprise me if when Sammy releases the next gen controller that it will show up in a Corsair body:) In the mean time its got the latest and greatest Sammy Controller (just released as well) in it and the P in the name stands for PERFORMANCE...rumors are it may be a real X-25M killer :)
