Default Hard drive unbearably loud

Well I decided to try amd fusion, big mistake. I ran it in expert mode and instantly my hard drive got waaaayy louder, so I immediatly stopped the profile and rebooted.

I've also uninstalled fusion completely, and made sure the hd is snug in place and not rattling at all.

Using my computer as it is, is extremely annoying. I think I will go buy a new hard drive tommorow. Don't have a credit card yet so it looks like I'll have to shop at a big box store.

Are western digital's a safe bet altogether, not sure what'll be in stock...I only need like a 500gb drive.

I also posted on the fusion forums, but I doubt this is fixable at this point.

well, I re-installed my OS to see if it was somehow a software problem. No dice, looks like I'm going to buy another hard drive tommorow.

Really pissed off that amd would release a program that can basically destroy hardware. Not impressed at all.

Sounds strange :| I'm a bit incredulous about the actual cause but I'm not there nor am I particularly familiar with amd fusion for gaming.

I noticed afterwards theres a tab in the profiles menu called "hard drive accelleration". I think thats the culprit.

My System Specs

Default

Go for a 640GB WD Caviar black, they're fast!
Or... 320GB Caviar blue, I have 2 of them, they're fast also (single platter)

I highly doubt it was the (fusion)software that killed your harddrive. That being said, if your looking for a new drive I would easily recommend Western Digital, the Black Edition 640GB in particular!

What's with all the recent hate on Seagate? Before, people here used to love seagates and WD drives equally.. you guys are starting to scare me, my main OS/App drive is a Seagate 160GB!

I know it seems unreasonable for software to cause a problem like this, but the drive functioned fine after. It'd have to be one hell of a coincidence for the drive to get way louder right as I clicked the "run profile" button.

I went and picked up a WD caviar "green" 500gb, my system is nice and quiet now.

There is nothing wrong with seagate.

They had a batch of faulty drives and people went ape shit.

Get over it.

Seagate is fine.
