that thread is very anicent... so present techonology of hard drive should be much better than before...


anyway... last question...i wonder what is disadvantage of raid?

The only disadvantage is that if one drive fails, you lose all the data stored on both drives. And usually drives in Raid0 have a higher chance of failing than drives running on their own

I've never ever had a raid fail on me in my life. lol. That being said. I've used a single drive for all my data; and windows on a raid so it references that drive for my documents etc... games also on a raid cause who cares if they disapear lol

same, then i got cheap and sold my raid drives :(

RAID in terms of RAID 0 is really a misnomer as there is no redundancy in a stripe only configuration. The speed increase isn't worth doubling the likelihood of having a drive falkure take all the data with it. I do use RAID 1 on two desktops and RAID 5 on my workstation and am considering migrating to RAID 6 or 10.

I've been contemplating going RAID for quite some time but some people say it's not worth the bother and/or expense then others swear by it. I suppose you can't be sure one way or the other until you've actually tried it yourself ... A bit of a catch 22

Hmm. I just setup my 2 WD 500gbs in raid 0. installing drivers and apps atm.
