My System Specs

Question What temperatures are your HDD?

So i was wondering, what are you guy's hard drive temperature at?

My WD 640GB stays at 34C and the IDE 250GB(OS) 29C. Dont quite understand how the IDE is cooler than the Sata

And whats a good temperature to keep hard drives at? i been told its best to keep it at 35C-40C for longevity and perfomance.

According to the Google study temperature doesn't really affect hard drive life all that much. I have no idea what my HDD's are running at as they are on a RAID card and don't know how/if i can see the temps for them. But I assume they are rather high as they have 0 airflow over them.

Yeah...generally between 33C and 35C for mine. The WD 80GB IDE is the OS drive(W-7), therefore a touch warmer. This is with 25C room temp.

WD 640 GB in wife"s PC stay between 27c and 29c. In HAF case so no problem for airflow.

30c-35c average across all my drives, I think the highest I've every seen was 38c on one of my WD Black Edition drives.

Most of my IDEs are around 50-60C load (which is usually 24/7)
SATAs are a little luckier at around 45C load.

My 150 Gig Raptor (System Drive) sits around 33 and my 1TB Seagate (Storage) at about 30. Good airflow with the Antec 900 fan on low. Ambient temp in the room is 23.

Mine are all 30. The raptors should be slightly higher, not by much I assume (They are in RAID-0, so I can't see what it's temps are ... oddly)
