It's not based on the number hours...It's definitely the number of writes. However, they say that even as a hardcore user these should last quite a while.

But that is an INTEL employee. How do I know if he is just trying to promote his product and bashing the others.

Well obviously he's trying to sell Intel's new product, but only a little bit. You can also take into consideration the products by Smasung, G.Skill, etc. and all that he talks about are very similar. Not only does he talk about the good things about them, but he also talks about the bad, which are getting fewer and fewer and research continues in that field.

They are all pretty much the same for the cheap MLC drives. Just buy whatever is cheapest IMO.
