Default Installing Windows Vista to a SATA3G hard drive
I just thought of something (and forgive me if it's a dumb question), but with the new machine i'm building (click here for the rig specs) I'm planning on installing Windows Vista x64 to a SATA3G hard drive (to be specific, a Seagate Barracuda 160GB 7200RPM SATA3G).

Will I need any extra drivers to allow Windows Vista to install to the sata drive? or will Vista recognize the drive right away and let me install to it without anything else?

It should see it no problem.
I'm in the habit of formatting as primary before the install.

I never tried with a blank hdd with vista.

Is that different from a Sata II drive? (bit of a writeup here... http://www.asisupport.com/ts_sata300_article.htm ).

If it's just a traditional SataII drive you won't have any issues unless you are trying to run a raid config.

I think SATA3G is the next step up from SATAII... SATA3G runs at 3.0GB/s respectively.

Default
Sata II runs at 2X the speed of Sata's 1.5G hence it's 3G.

No drivers are needed unless you are setting up a RAID array.

There isn't anything called SATA3G.

There is SATA and SATA II

SATA = 150
SATA II = 300

You'll never see burst speeds upto 300 on a consumer controller.
