mk, ive used folding-at-home b4, how do I register points to win exactley?

edit- oh, and for some odd reason with the folding-at-home GPU one, my video processor only makes noises when its being used... but the odd thing is that it processes, stops (for ~.5 seconds) processes, stops (for ~.5 seconds), and keeps doing that... and it makes noises as it processes, so its not one continual sound, its broken up by the .5 second pause... does it make noises for you guys/stutter like that?

edit#2- I set the folding-at-home (GPU) to go 100%, fixed the problem, and the noise is actually quieter :)

im using both GPU and CPU, an OC'ed 4870 (830 core, 1075 x 4 for memory)

CPU is at 4ghz (e8400)

We chose the 15K minimum with the same mindset. We wanted to give the folks with older gear a chance to make the cut. 15K is nothing for somebody who's folding with a new(er) vid card, but somebody with an older Dual core or an ATI card (like my 3870) is going to have to fold 24/7 for 2 - 3 weeks in order to get in enough PPD to qualify.
Thanks for the clarification. I think you guys hit the nail on the head with the way you've set it up. It'll definately encourage lots of people to throw in some PPD to the team!

As long as you're folding for the hardware canucks team (54196) the points will register with FAH under our team name and we'll be able to find out who's eligible from the stats. Best bet is to use your forum screen name so that it's easy to find you if you do win. :)

I wish this GTX295 didn't squeal like a wounded dog while folding. Driving me nearly insane.

You run it at stock or OC? My 285s don't squeal at stock or with a small OC, only when I OC it a lot. There are a lot of PPD in that card, OC or not...

Well I am using Vista. So only one core is being used. It is OC'ed, however it squeals even at stock under load.

Wow, I'm really impressed guys. I didn't know about folding until maybe a month ago.... (I live under a rock) I've been doing it full bore since then simply because it makes sense to try and get some scientific/medical knowledge out of it.

Really nice prizes. I'm glad Asus did this because I have been exclusively buying their motherboards for myself and clients for the past 7 years now

I'm *really* hoping to win that 285 card, but who isn't....

All well, all in good fun. Good luck to everybody!

I am running my 295 stock and my SLI is de-linked so I can run both GPUs and to avoid the squeal I backed off the % in the configuration where you right click on the icon in the tray and bring up the config there. Seems to work for me.

I wish there was an easy way to use both GPU's with Vista. I also tried backing off the CPU percentage in the configuration. It quits squeeling for a few minutes, then comes back. I also prefer the squeal when overclocked. It makes a higher pitched squeal then over stock, not as noticeable.

FYI, for those of you who want to pop in the points and then back off I'll let you in on something: wait 'till you see the NEXT folding members-only contest. ;)

Hehe.

Unlike the GX2 the second gpu on the 295 is activated using the hdmi output, if your monitor has dual inputs you could connect both...

@ SKYMTL; You staff delight in teasing us don't you...
