Yes, you can run both CPU and GPU clients. Make sure you use the Systray beta versions for better ppd.

You can run both the CPU and GPU clients at the same time, get the GPU one here; Folding@home - DownloadWinOther

You should be getting ~900ppd from the PS3 and ~ 1800-2000ppd from the GPU plus whatever you get from the CPU...

What is the sweet spot for PPD, price, energy consumption, etc?

IE: 3 260's?... 1 285?... 4 9600GSO?

I hope I'm being clear on what I mean. I wouldn't mind making a dedicated folding boxen.... if I can afford it.

If you can find them at a decent price and make them work, a rig with four GX2's will get you ~40,000 ppd.

Back in the real world, 3x or 4x the best card you can afford with a good PSU, a decent motherboard, and a cheap proc...

I think something maybe wrong though, I've got my PS3 folding for HWC and I have my PC folding aswell. My PC is an Athlon 7750 Oc'd to 3.1 GHZ and an ATI 3870. The PS3 has been steady since the 15th and so has the PC.

Shouldn't I have way more points than this? It seems like my PS3 is doing most of the work, maybe I downloaded the CPU program for the PC instead of the GPU one. Can you run both at the same time CPU and GPU?

Unfortunately you won't be getting much PPD if your GPU client and CPU F@H is going on

With ATI cards Folding, it uses almost 100% of the CPU +GPU All you can do now is tough it out

If you can get them used, great. I would tend to avoid the lower end cards, as the WU's get bigger and more complex the weaker cards take a bigger hit. Look what happened when the 511 point WU's came out, the popular cards like the 9800GSO took a big hit in ppd while powerful cards like the 280 where not hit as hard...
