Yes Ive read a few things like that now.
So its a bit of a "lucky dip" for a while as to whether you get that 55nm or not perhaps.

(I'm still holding out for a 55nm version of the 216 core 260 - soon please)

I get the feeling we won't see them until January or February.

If it was for December, there would be more leaks and more information.

I'm sure it will OC very similar to the older 65nm Cards...my experience OC'ing both the 65nm 260's and 280's has proven to myself that the OC was not limited to heat at all, but was limited to stability. These Cards can become unstable at normal operating Temps with higher OC's, for example, my older 260's and my present 280's are perfectly stable at 720 / 1458 / 1260 Temps Maxed out at 72c, the minute you bump the OC a little more, although Temps don't change the Cards will start to Artifact. particularly when playing Crysis.
Imo, these newer 55nm Cards are not worth moving to if you presently have the 65nm Cards....These 55nm 2xx Series Cards are going to be by-passed by myself and wait for the more anticipated 3xx Series in May / June 09.

So far 55nm power consumption figures are all over the place. Stay tuned for the preview in the next 48-72 hours or so...

Thanks for the info rjbarker. I suspect you are right.
My 260 is fine up to ~ 680mhz, but into the 690's strange things begin to happen.
Most important though is that at 671 it plays great and it was much more affordable than the new 55nm model prices.

Just to clarify and not mislead you...my older 260 that OC'd so high was a FTW Edition and my 280's are both SSC Editions. My present OC's are pretty much a "standard high end OC", some folks are getting higher, although I don't know what there methodology is for testing the OC for stability...if mine aren't stable I gack it off! Crysis seems to be the most surefire method of testing GPU OC Stability imo.

I believe this was answered to a certain extent for the 65nm Cards, likely the 55nm Cards mmaybe somewhat cooler.
