My System Specs

Default Radical Intel price drops and new models.

If these are right, I'm selling my AMD stocks! Notice the 70% price drop in the Q6600 by Q3- Also if you're planning on buying a CPU, hold off until the 22nd. These prices are by the thousand lot, so the retail will be higher.

These tables are from these two articles here and here respectively

On th eother side of the coin, though, Legit reviews just posted a pirce/performance comparison between intel e6300 and the equally priced AMD 5600+, and the 5600 beat it- so AMD is still woth buying.

Legit Reviews - $185 Gaming CPU's: AMD 5600+ Versus Intel E6300 - AMD Versus Intel at the $200 Price Point

Though i agree with the review you posted, i would have a hard time justifying the AMD

they reduced the pricing because they are losing so much more market share right now and they have to save thier ass

I was a huge AMD fan, am still am but right now Intel has my money and untill AMD can produce simular performace at same speeds i will have to stick with intel

that AMD cpu was what 2.8 vs a an intel 1.8, seems roles have reversed, it use to be that AMD would out perform Intel at lower clock speeds

wierd

Yeah, until we know for sure that whatever new proc AMD is going to come up with will fit into an AM2 board it's C2D all the way for a new upgrade. (I'm working on one right now.... :) ).

That's a pretty good article. It now confirms that it still is a good idea to make an AMD rig for games.

I'm sorry, but anyone that thinks AMD is ready to go under from any of these articles is a fool. AMD is not in direct competition with Intel. Why does everyone completely forget that AMD was just able to take advantage of Intels horrible netburst architecture when the put out the AMD64's? They never attempted to rout Intel with increased production or other types of schemes. AMD had the spotlight for a few years, but Intel, being 100+ times larger of a company, was certain to take back the lead. AMD is cleaning up in the OEM market. They are sellin awesome budget CPUs and they are in excellent shape to stay in the scene. I may sound like/be a fanboy, but in no way is AMD going under for a very long time.

I certainly don't think that AMD/ATI is going down the tubes.... I just hope that they don't intend to stay in the "middle ground/OEM" place they're currently in.

The C2D thing is actually quite funny when you look at the history of it.

It came out of research being done for P4 mobile chips (my understanding is that the main concern was heat/performance) and was not part of the plan for future desktop chips.

The fact that the tech ended up kicking ass was purely coincidental, and not in any way due to intel's larger research budget.

What is funnier than that is the P4 Mobiles (Dothans) were actually derived from the P3 architecture. I had a 740 Dothan in a ASUS rig with that socket adapter they sold a while back and it was a monster.
